Eric Lemon began Playing electric bass in his hometown of Jamaica, New York at the early age of thirteen. After playing in local Funk and R and B bands in the mid 1970s he developed an affinity to Jazz from hearing Saxophone legend Dextor Gordon one night at Carnegie Hall. This experience led him to persue a performance career and a study at York College music program in Queens and eventually onto Long Island University in Brooklyn, N.Y. where he earned a B.A. degree in Fine Arts after studying under Dr. Moorman, Principall Bassist,Jules Hircsh and Peter Yelling. Performances includes work with such greats as saxophonist Lou Donaldson,singer Gloria Lynne,James Spaulding Trombonist Benny Powell,Slide Hampton,singers Jon Hendrix, Venessa Rubin,legendary Dakota Staton, Justin Robinson, Roy Hargrove,the Negro Ensemble Co. and the Danny Mixon Trio. Eric lemon is a respected educator who has done instuctions at L.I.U. Univ.N.Y.C. Dept of Ed., Brooklyn Conservatory of Music,LaGuardia Comm. College Westchester Istitute Jazz Camp, and the Noel Pointer Violin Foundation. Eric Lemon has recordings with James Spaulding, Lou donaldson. Jon Hendrix Craig Baily. Carl Bartlett.The Harper Brother band to name a few. He is currently recording his first solo project entitled "THE LEMON TREE" and is still an on demand bassist in N.Y.C along with teaching privatley and in public.Eric is also married and is currently raising two young beautiful children..
